YUVADARSHAN - BRIEF HISTORY
Yuvadarshan is the Youth Organization of the Diocese of Vasai. It is an organization of the youth by the youth and for the youth. The Youth Organization (Yuvadarshan) was founded on July 18, 1982 by Fr. Barthol Machado. Before that, Fr. Joe Pithekar made efforts to organize and form the youth from different parts of Vasai, a pioneering work indeed.
Young Students Movement (Y.C.S. / Y.S.M.) was started in June 1984 by Fr. Barthol Machado. Sr. Blanche Correa was its first Coordinator.
On 18 March 1989, Young Christian Workers (Y.C.W.) was started by Fr. Joel D'Cunha, the then Director of Yuvadarshan. Its purpose was to organize the workers to fight for their rights and to help them live out their Christian values at their workplaces. It also sought to address the various civic problems of Vasai and Dharavi Island, which is now part of the Archdiocese of Bombay
